Anaerobic co-digestion of cocoa husk with digested swine manure: evaluation of biodegradation efficiency in methane productivity CIGR Journal

The purpose of this study was to investigate the potential of methane production from anaerobic co-digestion of coco husk with digested swine manure.  The experiment was set up in the batch system.  Inoculum utilized in this experiment was derived from semi-continuous reactor run at steady state condition, with 25 days of hydraulic retention time and mesophilic condition.  The temperature applied in this experiment was maintained under mesophilic condition, which was 35oC.  The highest methane productivity generated from anaerobic co-digestion of cocoa husks (CH) with digested swine manure was 345.8 ± 7.82 mL/day, which was higher compared with the anaerobic digestion of digested swine manure alone (286.97 ± 16.8 mL/day).  CH reactors had less methane...

Analysis of changes in energy use pattern of wheat crop in two decades – A study of central India CIGR Journal

For sustainable agriculture a fair balance between different categories of input energy with optimum output need to be established. The main objective of this paper was to investigate the energetics of wheat production for long term (20 years) in central India through a large scale survey which focused on (i) Farmers categories wise energy use pattern (ii) operation wise energy use pattern (iii) source wise energy use pattern. The finding of this research showed that as the farm size increased the input energy per unit was also increased. Analysis of energy uses in cassava production in North-Central Nigeria CIGR Journal

Energy inputs and yield relationship in cassava production was investigated to establish correlation between inputs and output in cassava production in Nigeria. Production data of energy inputs and crop yields were collected from 54 cassava farms in twelve cassava producing villages through site visits, interaction with the farmers and physical measurements for three production seasons (2013-2016). The data were analyzed statistically. Amount of inputs per hectare were calculated and multiplied by coefficients of energy equivalents. Gears is a rotating cylindrical wheel having tooth cut on it and which meshes with another toothed part to transmit the power or torque.. In this investigation, at first, bending stress and contact stress between sun gear and planet gear tooth were determined using of Lewis and Hertzian equations. Afterward, a 3D model of final drives gear was investigated via FEM method. Analysis of nozzle spray distribution for different nozzle height and pressure CIGR Journal

A patternator was designed and constructed with the aim of field sprayers pattern testing and consequently application of more accurate weed control, reduce environmental and economic costs associated with weed control. The patternator was tested at six spray height (50, 60, 70, 80, 90 and 100 cm) for each of the three levels of system pressure (1.0, 2.0 and 3.0 bar). All measurements were performed spraying water with a temperature of 20 oC in the laboratory. Environmental conditions are kept constant at a temperature of 48 oC, relative humidity of 51% and wind speed 3 m/s. Dimensions for seat pan and backrest were measured and analyzed, according to BIS recommendations. Analysis of straw bruising and sieving system on performance of modified wheat straw combine for better straw quality CIGR Journal

Wheat straw is a major feed source for ruminants. To retrieve the wheat straw and stubbles left after wheat harvesting operation with grain combines, another machine i.e. straw combine is used. The concept of a self-metering poultry feeder was developed.  The theoretical analysis of the forces involved in its operation was done and a generalized pecking force model was developed.  Mathematical expressions, logical assumptions, graphical relations and models as well as statistical analyses were adopted in the pecking force analysis. Anpilpay 2.0: a New Human Powered Press for Producing Straw Bales for Load Bearing Constructions CIGR Journal

This paper provides the design method to realize a human-powered press for continuous production of high-density straw bales, necessary for the realization of load bearing housing modules. Particular attention is directed to the simplicity of the press mechanical structure, in order to make possible its construction in developing countries.
